Hello...
When the unit is powered up, does the backlight come on with the Matrix Orbital bitmap appearing? Is the unit a WBL or an SM?

the LCD is "stuck" with the backlight and a custom loaded bitmap. thats all that displays when power is applied. WBL.
its okay if its broken or what not, ill just cut my losses.

Can you try a manual override:
1) Turn off the display
2) Put a jumper on pins 5 and 6 of the keypad connector.
3) Power up the display. The baud rate is now set to 19,200.
4) Remove the jumper and change the RS-232 port settings to the desired baud rate.
5) Turn off the display.
6) Power up the display.
Using our mogd.exe that is available on our website or on the CDROM provided to you, try communicating with the unit. Can you confirm that your serial cable is still properly working? Does the display flicker when power is applied? If you wish you can contact me personally at
myero@matrixorbital.com and we can try to resolve this problem.
We will do our best to help you get the display working!

i dont know what happened, but it works now. i just kept hammering the display with "clear screen" codes, and then all of a sudden the display flickered, came back with garbage. wiped file system and reloaded bitmaps and fonts, and it works.
sorry for the ranting

What may happen is that if there is a buffer over-run, the FE might be seen as 2 bytes instead of one. But generaly the sending the clear display command shouldn't take long to perform, so you really must have been hamering it. We have had problems on and off with our GLK12232-25 manufacturer, I will admit that, so we fired them and have got a new one, we should have brand new GLK12232-25-WBL units by January, that will be much better quality and couple new features.
You may also want to concider using flow control in your program, and/or locking the memory chip down if you have uploaded everything to your LCD that you want.
Glad it works...
