Can't get 2nd line to display text w/LCDC

I just installed a new BLC2021-WB. Beautiful display by the way!! 
The display tests fine using the LCDC test function. When I go through the "Getting started" section of the manual, I can't get the text to display on the second line. This is while I'm using the "Live preview" funtion in the screen builder.
When I loaded the "2lineexample" file and run it, both lines display fine, but not while in the screen builder.
What am I doing wrong?
