I had a 5 first and then bought the larger 7 to finish my development. Now I'm starting to make some beta test units and I need extra displays.
But I though when I bought the 7 that there were 3 units that were plug and screen resolution compatible - the 5, 7 and a 4 (not the 4.3).
Is that unit no longer available?
To save costs on some units I want to offer any displays I can that I can support with one plug and code set.
Now it looks like that will only be the 7 and 5.
Is that correct?

You are correct, the GTT50A and GTT70A share the same 800 x 480 resolution. Unfortunately, a 4" GTT has never been offered.

To make code reusable across the GTT line you might position elements relative to the width and height of the screen. All GTTs will return their width and height when the Get Display Metrics command is issued.
