I have a small problem with the 4x4 keypad. I'm assuming that the white dot on the 8pin connector is pin 1, so it is connected the corresponding position on the LCD. But I am only able to use 12 of the 16 buttons. Here's how that lays out currently:
N x D I <- as you can see the "x"
M x C H buttons do not work. The
L x B G others default to the given
K x A F Alpha character.
Is there any way to fix this (such as my connector is backwards)? Or do I have bad hardware (LCD or Keypad?).
Thanks much,
Mark Kraft

Middle out on the keypad header... you should have pins left over on the left and right side.

You have to center the keypad connector on the header, so if you're plugging an 8 pin keypad header into a 10 pin keypad header you miss out the first and last pin, not the last 2 if you see what I mean.

Thanks guys... I'll try that as soon as I get home. What should the character layout be when I set it up that way?
A F K P
B G L Q
C H M R
D I N S
That look right???
Thanx,

Thanks... RTFM! Next time I will actually look at the manual before I ask a stupid question.
Got it working, now I just need to decide whether to mount the keypad permanently (with backing) or to keep using sticky tape. I haven't decided if my wooden mounting will be my final design.
Thanks again,
Mark K.

There are a few pics of the keypad mounted in the forum... one person mounted on the front of the case, it's probably one of the older posts.
