Fragile inter-board connector on GLK series

I found that one of the two inter-board connectors on the GLK series is rather sensitive to damage if the display is not properly mounted. See the attached picture. It is the connector on the keypad side. It is surface soldered on the front PCB. If the display is mounted by screws to a front panel without properly sized spacers, only slight pressure on the screew bends the front PCB and causes the connector to desolder. It is almost impossible to repair on the inner side of pins. Unfortunately, the space between the front pannel and the PCB is 7.5 mm, so use a spacer with the closest length available.

Hi Ubik,

Thanks for the post, that is great advice. The surface mount connector is tremendously hard to repair, proper mounting and force prevention are definitely recommended.
