Hi all, I just got my new display (LCD0821), I plan on using it for a robotics project which is still a work in progress. In the meantime I want to test the display on my laptop, I'm using a RS232 to USB converter so I got the communication bit sorted. But I'm not really sure about the power, I have a switch-mode power supply which can output 5V, could I just hook that up to the display? Cheers.

Hi Mario,
Thank you for posting on the forum.
Yes, 5V is the power needed for the LCD0821. There is a variant of this, called LCD0821-V which needs 9V - 15V, so please make sure of which one you have.
As the LCD0821 does not have a DB9 connector on board, you will have to either purchase our
comm / power cable or make your own so that you can either use the RS232 Header and Power / Data Connector or just use the Power / Data Connector when you purchase the comm / power cable. Please see Figure 10 of the
manual.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more info.
Best Regards,
