Matrix Orbital 232 usb communication problems... help please

Sometimes when I boot up into either win xp or vista the lcd screen will appear all scrambled with weird characters. Sometimes lcdc will communicate and clear it up, other times not. Sometimes after a reboot the lcd screen just doesn't clear its last contents and fails to start. Device manager sees it just fine. Its hooked up on a motherboard header. Possible driver corruption? Vista bug?
Thanks,
Dave.

Hello Dave,
Thanks for your post.
Which USB device do you have? Have you tried communicating to it using
uProject (ie. can you send characters to the display correctly)?
Best Regards,
Still Flaky

I believe its a MX-232 - thats what my sales receipt says. LCDC config page says lk-202-24-usb or mx2-xx rev1-3. So I booted into vista 32 and basically the lcd screen had random "'" characters spread out. LCDC failed to initialize the screen and said something like device not found. uproject didn't either connect. So I uninstalled the drivers and rebooted. This time lcdc worked but uproject failed again...
Not sure whats going on. USB or IRQ conflict maybe? How do you fix it?
Thanks.
In XP uproject works

Apparently you have to quit out of lcdc to use uproject and it seems to work. It just seems very flaky...
Thanks.

Hello Dave,
In order to use either LCDC or uProject, it is necessary to make sure that there is only one application using the COM port. For example, to run LCDC while uProject is running, make sure that you close the COM port in uProject (in the COM Setup tab, the top button should say 'Open COM', which means that the COM port is closed).
Did that , been there...

I noticed that one app can only run at once in XP. My system is a multiboot OS setup, and I noticed that it works fine in XP, + vista 64, its just in vista 32 for some reason...
Really don't care it doesn't work in Vista 32 as I feel you can't win all the battles out there.
David.
