Matrix Orbital Corp

I have an lk-202-usb and am trying with little success to use it over a rs232 connection. the usb connection works perfectly. I have connected the display to both a pic and to my pc through hyperterminal. I am using 8bits, no parity, 19200 baud and 1 stop bit.
Characters are coming though incorrectly to the display, eg:
a gives O
A gives _
b gives '
B gives /
O gives X
o gives H

any ideas?

This should work but do keep in mind that the display is expecting TTL levels on the RX/TX pins so verify you got those.
