Undervolting fans with mx2 causes fan noises. Fan problem?

When I under volt these 2 120mm fans I have in my case with the mx2 it causes the fans to make a kinda loud cranking type noise. But when I connect them to the motherboard and under volt them with speedfan they sound fine. Is this a display problem or just the fans I'm using? I'm not able to test with other 120mm fans at the moment as I have none.

Hello Fighter2a,

I checked with my engineer and he suggested that you have two options:

1) Put a large value cap between the 5V/GND pins (make sure to get the POLARITY right)
2) Try a different fan
