Dallas 1-Wire probes (DS18B20 PAR)

Post by Xtrophic »

Heyas :)

After ordering from Maxim/Dallas a bunch of different 1-wire devices to test with I stumbled onto a problem when using parasitic devices (ie, those who feeds power over the databus). Unfortunatly these were the only ones I got since the regular DS18B20+ are out of stock at the moment.

For some operations, in this case a temperature conversion from a DS18B20PAR, the data must be put high in order for the operation to be completed. This causes some headache for me as I cannot figure out how to do this, if it even is possible (but I am starting to doubt it hehe).

Other operations that don't require the data to be raised are working just fine so I am able to poll the temperature, high/low alarms and the resolution off the probe. I just can't get the probe to actually do the conversion.

I haven't read anywhere that you do, or do not support parasitic devices so consider this post an inquery as to if you guys have any possible solutions on your mind, or if I just have to forget about parasitic devices :)

Hi Xtrophic,

At this point, I can confirm that we don't support parasitic devices. Sorry for this inconvenience.
