Matrix Orbital Corp

Saw a GE article about an LCD panel that when controlled by a switch could be made opaque, was for use as home windows. I am curious if anyone here can shed some light on a) a company that manufactuers these and/or b) how exactly these systems differ from regular LCD panels found in computers etc.... Could these opaque panels be built utilizing parts available via the aftermarket?
