Hey all,
I purchased a MX610 with the keypad, but have created a bay device with space for 6 GPOs and a button. I'd like to hook up the button as like a shift key, but I'm not sure how to hook up the wires. the keypad that came attached came with I think 2 or 3 extra on one side, and 1 pin extra on the other. My switch is a standard SPST 2 contact switch, how can I hook it up to the display? As always, your help is much appreciated.

Brian,

To help you understand how to hook up the switch, I will explain how the keypad interface works. Our keypads consist of rows and columns which correspond to a matrix of characters. When a key is pressed a row and column is shorted, and the controller will go through a scanning algorithm to detect the pressed key. Once the key is detected, a character is then sent down the receive line. You must program that character to what you want it to do. To hook up your switch you must hook up to an extra row and column pin. The keypad pin layout is below.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post them.
