LED Replacement?

I bought an MX222 about 14 months ago. Just the other day I noticed the display looked dimmer than I remembered it. Upon closer inspection it appears there are lighter and darker regions on the display. After browsing the forum I realized that this may be an LED issue. Does that sound accurate? Are the LEDs replaceable? I was hoping to get a little more life out of the display than this... Thanks.
