BootEdit problems

Hello,

I am trying to create a new boot screen on my VK204-24-USB using BootEdit.

I can successfully connect to the unit, create the screen, and write it to the unit. Every time I write to the unit garbage characters appear starting in the upper left-hand corner and keep moving right if I continue to click write to unit. I can clear the characters by disconnecting and then reconnecting to the unit.

As soon as I turn off my HTPC and turn it back on again, the default screen pops up. The unit never seems to save my new boot screen.

I tried clicking on the write to unit several times as suggested here, but it still doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Hi darklight_tr,

You can also try bootlogo to change your screen. It will be in an ecd that came with your display. If you can't find it, email me at tlam@matrixorbital.ca , and I will send you a copy. You can also try the most recent version of bootedit, which I can also send to you.

If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post.

Best Regards, :D

Thanks for the help, Tom.

I located the BootLogo program on my CD and it works great. I now have a custom boot screen every time I start my PC! :D

about that...

I just started using that program, works wonders, but i cant seem to get more than 8 characters?!. Lets say i make a picture (which i am doin) that takes up like 5 or 6 blank spots on the bottom area where you edit the squares. well if i need to make letters i only have 2 spots left because if i edit the spots with something in them they change what i already have on the screen.. you get what im saying?

Thats because you can only have 8 custom characters due to the controller used on these displays.
