I was playing with my new LCD module. and it worked fine for a while. until i installed the winamp plugin. when i played a song the whole display was filled with a bunch of caracters and bitmaps, after that the module hanged.

from that point on the display didn't work properly annomore. when i reboot the module. the bootscreen still shows, but when i try to write a character to it the screen blanks and the module doesn't responds anomore.

so taking the power off isn't helping. i tryed LCD tester an the same problem accoures. LCD tested is also not capable of reading the Serial number en other things.

What can i do about it? is there a way to reset it?

Hi NewQ,

On the eCD you received with your module, there is a variety of test software that you can use to test the module with. The test software that I would recommend is called mogd.exe. In addition to using mogd.exe, can you also try performing a manual override. A manual override is to be used if for some reason the module is set at a baud rate which cannot be produced by the host system and all communication to the display is lost. The steps to perform this function are as follows:

1. Turn off the display
2. Put a jumper on pins 5 and 6 of the keypad connector.
3. Power up the display. The baud rate is now set to 19,200.
4. Remove the jumper and change the RS-232 port settings to the desired baud rate if required.
5. Turn off the display.
6. Power up the display.

If you have any questions regarding the manual override procedure, feel free to post!

Let me know how you make out.
