I finally got my hands on a digital camera, here is the first installment of "Jay' Case Mod"

You can see I'm not too handy with an exacto-knife in that last one. I got a 2' x 2' sheet of the carbon fiber though so I'm going to re-do it to make it look a lot better.

Next phase is the side window which should be completed by the weekend, assuming that I get the parts in by then. Stay tuned.

I just got the Bright Blue Cold Cathode light in the mail a few minutes ago. Tomorrow I should have the window kit show <a href="http://www.dansdata.com/images/pc60b/wl ... g">here</a>. Then I'll be all set up. At which time I'll post more pics

not the best pics in the world but I've seen a case with two of these in it and i swear you'd need 10 cathodes to get to the same brightness

The light in my case is a Cold Cathode. It's twice as bright as any neon, that's why I got it

Good God that would get hot. Aren't Halogen bulbs a fire hazard. I know that those stand up halogen lamps are. I would think that light would raise your case temp at least 10 degrees, ewww.

10 degrees? never, not even in a sealed case... as it says in the review a 20W bulb surpisingly gives off about 20W of heat - about the same as a very low powered processor (celeron-ish), I'm pretty sure if you're running an athlon of any bread the 20W will be little difference (2-3 degrees max) but you don't have to worry about it if you mount them right - all the heat radiates backwards from these bulbs.

Interesting.

I'd be interested to see that in real life. I market product in the pool/spa industry and we sell fiber optic systems for pools and landscaping. The fiberoptic light source is a Halogen bulb and they get damn hot.

2-3 degrees is negligable, I'd like to see one of these running.

To the touch it does get hot - 20W of heat from a small bulb is a lot, but in computer terms it's not too bad.

I got myself some ccfl (yep its the fake neon) the store I was in ,had the coloured halogeen I think its just to white

Yeah, I'm happy with my semi-soft ambient lighting. Not neon but not halogen, somewhere right in the middle
