Hi I'm looking for a program that with take a serial data inut an input from a source and diplay it on a screen.
EX. take the data the a hd44780 chip would receive in 8bit or 4bit mode and displayyit on a screen on my laptop. Tihs is for a project i'm working on so that i can program the efi system in my car with a computer instead of with the handheld controller. http://www.sdsefi.com

well, I'll try here...

It depends on the interface your source is using. For a controler to display information to a LCD is has to be programed to display for that specific type, ex: our displays or parallel. So what you would require is some kind of intermediet step, a device that would take the information being sent from the source and translate it (be it software or hardware/software, using a serial input on the laptop and have the software translate)and format it to your destination.
