IR detection?

I have an infrared motion detector. It uses 12 V and it can be connected ie. to Game port (output 5v) so you can be alerted if someone is sneaking behind you. 
Back to the point. Would it be possible to connect this IR equipment with MX2? You could for instance use a relay to set up light or something or softwear can send an email for alert or...
