Winamp5 looks choppy on lcd????

I used to use winamp 3 without a problem, but when i reformatted my PC and installed winamp 5 for the heck of it (its running off of winamp 2 plugins for the time being) i noticed that the equlizer graphics seem choppier than winamp 3 did when it goes up and down..... when i looked at the graphics carefully i noticed that instead of the bars going up and then at the top dropping slowly down its more like it goes up fast and comes back down fast..... looks erratic.
Is this because winamp 5 is being used off of winamp 2 plugins? is my LCD screwy? i am using a MX212 USB.... i never had this problem before. i played around with the frame rates and that didnt help either. Are there any official winamp 5 plugins out there?
