backwords fonts for use as a HUD?

Post by knoj »

Interested in building a HUD to go with my car pc... A HUD (Heads up display) would sit on the dashboard and reflect off of the windshield so that information such as speed, RPM and any warnings could be displayed on the windshield.

So , because the image would be a reflection of what is actually displayed, I would need to reverse the font on the VFD. I know that I could use a graphic LCD and upload my own fonts, but LCD's are easily affected by temperature, something my car will be exposed to quite a bit!

Any one know if this can be done?

Thanks, Knoj.

Unfortunatley the VFD will not support your needs if you want to display more than 8 characters. With character VFD modules, you have the ability to create 8 custom characters. You would require the use of a graphic display in which you can create your own fonts. With some of our graphic modules, extended temperature options are available. The 'E' option will provide a range from -20 to +70 degrees celsius.

Can I get a graphic LCD that is normally black, and the letters light up? It looks like it is the opposite way with your graphic LCD displays.

Currently the only graphic display we offer is the STN yellow green type LCD or a gray STN with a white LED backlight.
