LCD Display and IR

Post by igr11 »

Hello

First, I would like to comment on the amazing appearance and functionality of the MX2 displays (especially the versions with black aluminum panel).

In the spirit of integration, I was wondering if MatrixOrbital is planning (or would be willing) to design an LCD with black aluminum faceplace with an IR sensor built-in. This would truly make the display a "jack of all trades" and eliminate the need for separate external USB IR sensors, which are inconvenient and destroy the look of HTPCs. I'm sure many people (myself included) wouldn't mind paying a little more for such a product to make their HTPC complete.

Thank you,
Igor

Hello igr11, our engineering team has had many discussions pertaining to new designs integrating IR. We do not have plans for release in the near future unless an customers application warrants us to do so.... (large volume app./NRE fee, costs).

Please feel free to contact me with any addiotnal questions or concerns.

Regards,
Bernadine

I second the motion! Not only would IR ability make sense for HTPC applications, it would also be a great way to provide "keypad" functionality to the units with aluminum (or otherwise buttonless) faceplates.

It is doubtful that the current product range of displays will ever recieve an IR addon. We have played with the idea s Bernie said, but ended up with too many problems to incorporate it into the current product line. Don't think it has been forgoten though, we have some new and exciting product coming out over the next six months :D
