working a keypad, lights *and* switches...

I have big plans for my MO 
- my Big Plan is to have 6-8 buttons forming a "keypad", where each button can be lit up independently by a GPO, when applicable. I reckon this is possible in LCDC, but is it possible with the displays? I would also like to control several fans with the display but the most GPOs I can find is 6 on the LK204-25. Can I have lights and a keypad at the same time? is there any other way to light them up? or am I just being completely overambitious?
