Help me choose a display.

Post by skotbites »

Hi, 1st post here, just getting into modding and looking at the MX2 series, but can't decide wether to go for the one with the brushed aluminium bezel which will match my case or go for a black one with keypad.

What do you guys use the keypad for?

Cheers

I do not use the keypad much, except to stop the display from cycling between different screens and to switch between screens when not cycling. I have three basic screens 1. CPU and memory statistics, 2. CPU and case temperatures with associated fan power levels and 3. CPU, case, motherboard and GPU temperatures.

The keypad was also useful when I setup the fan control. I would use it to select a fan and increase or decrease the fan power level. I would then check the associated temperature. Using this information I would pick temperature targets for the automatic fan control.

By using a plug-in you can also control the display using the keyboard instead. I have not experimented a lot with the keyboard plug-in. Others might have an opinion if it can do everything that the keypad can.

Cheers, was thinking of maybe getting the seperate keypad and hiding it away in a drive bay when not in use that way I get the best of both worlds.

I have to say that the brusshed panel looks nicer, maybe mod it to add your own keys?
