Hello people,

I'm new to this forum and new to HTPCs and LCD displays. But I must say this site has given me a bit of of an insight into what i'm letting myself in for.

My question:

I would like to make an external display unit for my new HTPC (when I get it early next year). A few condidtions apply, it has to run from an external USB port, and look similar to the new pioneer external displays on their home cinema systems (http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/product_det ... y_id=45-66)

Any ideas on the best USB LCD display for this?

Any ideas where I could get some metal and plastic to make the unit look similar to the pioneer?

Any other information would be useful. I'm pretty new with this so please don't bite!!!

Maybe I should not have posed the question like i did. This is what I want to do...

I would like to purchase the iMON remote and receiver, take the receiver to pieces and install it into an external display unit which will also house a USB LCD display, probably the LK204-24-USB character display. But I don't know whether I could get a better display thats USB, or even could I convert RS232 to USB and will it still work? Also dose the USB displays take power from the USB port?

I also want to install a wireless keyboard/ mouse receiver into the same unit. Has anybody done anything like this, and could possibly tell me the best way of going about it or the best model to butcher.

I've seen that Cliff Watson has taken the iMON receiver from its shell and installed it into his HTPC. Cliff can you give anymore details?
