When using LCDC with the VFD2041 it doesnt really work properly, boxes flicker around the screen, it also wont auto detect it but yet it will work manually. Is this screen flicker on the VFD a software or hardware problem?

The VFD2041 will not detect, if you look in the manual for a VFD2041 you will see there is no type or rev command... also, make sure you turn off the block cursor, check the FAQ on the LCDC website.
