My CPU temp is 79 degrees above

I have a gigabyte sinex1394 motherboard and when i set it up with motherboard monitor my display reads the temperature at 127 degress celcius, this is 79 degees higher that the 48 degree the bios is telling me. Using MBM i can compinsate for this by 50 degrees but that still leaves my display reading 29 degrees out.
I'm using the latest MBM, so i have no idea why this is happening
anyone have any ideas?
