Power supply confusion!

I just got my nice new LK204-25 this morning and after reading the reviews etc. checked the power cable. I was a bit suprised to find the cable was a standard floppy cable so had a bit of a look around and everywhere I saw where big warnings about power cables etc.

After worrying a bit I sent an email to kustompcs(.co.uk) - supplier in UK who have so far been extremly helpfull in all aspects of buying the thing just checking what was going on. Meanwhile I read the "Note on Power Cables" on the CD and was greeted by a bit saying that the LCD I had didn't need an adaptor. Quickly sent another email to Kustom saying sorry for the confusion and realised all the warnings where FOR using a normal power supply! (my own stupid fault).

Then I decided to read the manual (not something usually done but after that thought I should check!)...... and the first thing I see is "Do not connect the LK204-25 to an unmodified spare power connector in a PC. To modify such a cable see section 2.1.1."

HELP!

The warnings and the guys at kustom are saying standard (which is what i'll go with after extending it) but the manual says modified!

The product looks excellent and I can't wait to try it, but I think that the bit of paper that comes with it should clearly say "This display uses a standard power cable" or "DO NOT use a standard cable - ensure you use a modded cable" and most important the manual be made clearer.

If this is just me reading the wrong model number and going mad then can the moderator please delete my post to save me more embarressment!

Thanks for the help and the great product,
A

First, relax, you're 1000x better off to ask first.

LK204-25 needs a modified power cable. Just to make sure you can take that with confidence, here's the relevant manual: http://www.matrixorbital.com/manuals/lk20425/index.htm

Specifically, check out section 1.4. Things change a bit if you got the wide voltage option though, so make sure. IF you have a -V in the part number , that's telling you it's the wide voltage model. See 2.1.1.1 and 2.1.1.2 for more details.

The confusion probably stems from the fact that the LK-204-25-PC doesn't need a modified power cable.

Thanks for that, I've got it going with standard supply. The PC and non pc versions are possibly whats driving me mad!

Thanks for all of your help and hopefully i won't need much more!
