BLK202A isn't working correctly.

So I finally got a Serial to USB adapter for my BLK202A and all text sent to the screen is jarbled and weird. I followed the step by step instructions for the LCD using LCDC to no avail. I even reset the Screen, and it still will not work correctly. Even at lower speeds it doesn't work. Needless to say its quite frustrating
I used the LCD on a regular serial port and never got it fully working on that computer either, and decided to give up until I could try it on my personal rig. Does it seem like it might be bad?

Hello...
Try a manual override again, but this time try using AlphaDemo. Make sure that you have the correct baud rate and com port set. When you turn the backlight off/on does garbage appear on the screen?

its really bizarre, but the LCD is working now. LCDC is kind of a pain to configure, and takes forever, AND half the things don't work correctly. On top of its crashing several times during configuration I can't see myself paying for it

but this rant needs to be posted elsewhere....

LCDC is a pain to configure until you get used to it, but so is pretty much any powerful program.
I can give you some quick advice for the things that don't seem to work--you probably don't have necessary plugins enabled for those variables (at least that's why you may see a bunch of $FOO variables on screen). The example files use a bunch of screens that require plugins to be activated, yet they aren't by default.
Plugins that grab data from external progs need the progs to be active too (MBM, winamp, etc.) And the progs have to be configured to barf the right data, like MBM won't report CPU usage until you configure it to.
So yeah, it's rough going at first, but nothing else comes close to the power of LCDC.

I'm quite surprised that you are having any crashes! Stability is my #1 priority. If you have any adive as to making LCDC easier to use, I'm all ears (so to speak). However I do suggest (if you have not already) running through the Getting Started Guide as this does take you through the basics of LCDC.
