I too was forced to move to an external USB 2.0 card. I've had a Shuttle AN35 board, with the nforce4 chipset, and have battled this ever since. The final insult is the useless PCIE-X1 slots. I was forced to use up the final avaiable PCI slot. Sure, this does more or less solve the problem, but creates a new once since I have no slot for a sound card! Surely there is a PCI-E soundcard you say? Nope. Creative has no plans for one either.
