just to complete the spectrum I bought a very expensive LED... and damn it looks ugly

 (The led is a little too bright, hence the halo effect being a little worse than normal)

Cheers,

doesn't look so bad, I even like it! It would be cool on some places, anyway, you tried it, and now the world can see the MO LCD's in every color!

Ok, I'm fairly new at this but I have a question about this fairly neat modification to your lcd:
Did you just replace the led backlight and thats it? If so, most of those LEDs require different voltages to work optimally, did you have to mess with any of the resistors?
Or am I way off base? Thanks!

The mod is all documented here http://www.icehardware.net/guides/col_lcd_mod/ - well kindof. You're right in worrying about the led voltages, though all the led's above are between 3.3V and 4V so it doesn't really matter. I used a small preset resistor so I could change it if I needed to and wired on a fan connector to plug the leds in quickly and easily...

Obviously when you've chosen a colour you can wire in a normal 5% resistor and solder the led in place.

Finally got around to adding an update (with all the colours in a nice wavelength order) to my site - http://www.icehardware.net/guides/col_lcd_mod/update/
