Will it fit?

Post by Geek »

I am building a MP3 machine without a monitor, so im going to use a MO screen. It's going to be a mATX case and i need to save the only 5 1/2in bay for my CDrom drive. So i need to know if a 4x20 display will fit in 2 floppy bays, as well has fit in the cage behind it. Thanks

I'm making mine fit. I have the LK204-24-USB and I'm working on custom mounting brackets. The actual lcd screen protrudes thru the front bezel of my case in the middle of the 2 floppy bay openings. Most of the main board is between the bezel and the case itself, but some of the connectors on the back are long enough to extend into the floppy bays by a small amount. I am doing some trimming on the front bezel because the floppy bay opening is framed too deep to allow the lcd to line up flush with the surface. I only have to trim the top and bottom edges by about 3/16". If this unit had a board that was about 1/4" smaller it would fit completely inside the space of 2 floppy bays and no trimming would have been necessary.

the PCB of a 4x20 is larger than 2 3.5" drivebays, but the viewing area will fit fine, so if you got some room above or below the drives you can make it fit. Check out the gallery as well, there are some pictures in there.
