Here are going to be pictures of other LCD/VFD projects... Made a robot? or a Yard water controll system? Post it here...

Rules:

1. No asking how it was done in this thread, take it to general, or hardware or PM.
2. Please keep the pictures less then 500 pixels (width) in size.
3. Give some information on how it was done.
4. If you need web hosting, please e-mail me and I'll host your pictures.
5. Dead links will be deleted.
6. If you have a homepage with more pictures or details, please give it at the bottom.

Format:

Unit: GLK12232-25
Controller: AT89C51
Programming Language: Assembler
Difficulty: Rather difficult, time-consuming
Other: love the memory of the LCD

What is it?
This piece of hardware is called: PC-Control-Unit v1.0. It is used to drive all extra fans and lights in a modded case. But of course, it has some extra features. Instead of using those ugly (no offence) switches or keypads, this unit uses a (ugly?) RF-remote.
Lets take a look at the specifications:
Specifications:
  • RF-remote up to 100m
  • Power-button replaced with code via RF-remote
  • Wake-up timer
  • Clock (time, alarm, date)
  • Reads temperatures (4 sensors)
  • Controls up to 8 fans or lights
  • LCD still usable with Windows-based software through RS232-interface
  • Upgradeable

All of the temperature sensors seen on the screen except CPU and Box comes from a piece of software i have developed called ThermoGamer. The program reads values from thermistors connected to the gameport and then calculates them into temperatures. The program can add custom sensors to Motherboard Monitor so you can put them on your LCD using LCDC or LCDstats or other similar software.

Materials Needed: Javelin Stamp, LCD...

Other Info: We used the DS1620 temperature probe for all the information, 4 wires and 1 resistor, that's how easy it is. Source code and more information can be found here...

Moisture Control System

Post by Miles »

UNIT:GLK12232-25WBL
CONTROLLER:PIC16C73
PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE:C
DIFFICULTY:(UNKNOWN)
OTHER:A Digital temperature sensor, moisture sensor, 2 slave units, a storm keypad a solid state relay and a water pump were added to the control system.

These pictures demonstrate our moisture control system. The idea behind the project was to incrporate a moisture sensor that will inherently turn the water pump off and on at appropriate moisture levels and monitor temperature of a specific soil. What better way to interface the system then by using a Matrix Orbital display. Maintaining the system was a microchip PIC16C73 microcontroller. It received data from the digital temperature sensor and the moisture sensor while sending data out to the display and the pump as required. A solid state relay was used to control the pump via the microcontroller. When the pump needed to be activated the microcontroller sent a "high" signal to turn it on and vice versa to turn it off.
