VFD Filter Question

I want a blue filter for my VFD, but its a 2x20 and Kustom PCs only do it for a 4 line VFD, i've never touched a VFD filter before so i dunno what its made from, but is it ok to cut the filter down to size for use on my 2x20??

The filters are made from 1-2mm thick plastic, you could cut one down to size (probably best to score and snap) but it's not an ideal solution (they have a stickie outline for attaching to the vfd).

You can buy a big roll of blue gel from maplin for around

I think cutting it down to size sounds good, i will make it a little wider so that the cut edge cant be seem when its in a bay plate
