Help!!!

Unfortunately, that did not work but I did get a character when the lcdc started "||". Sending text or turning on/off the backlight with lcdc and alpha did not work. Can I send it in to get it repaired? If so, approximately how long would it take or would I just have to purchase a new one? When I originally got received, it worked fine with the current set up but a day later it would turn on but the blinking cursor was the only thing it would display no matter what I tried.
