Powering wide voltage LCD (newbie)

I've just bought the wide voltage LCD2041, I plan on mounting it externally and at some point in the future would like to power it via the USB port. As I understand it the USB port would supply +5v only, would this be ok on a wide voltage model or would it need more.

The Wide Voltage LCD2041 need +7V minimum, if you bypass the voltage regulator you can supply it +5V
