I'm new to the VFD/LCD thing, so please excuse my noobyisms...!
I usually hang at the AVS-HTPC Forum, where these displays are fast becoming the new "thing" for Home Theater PCs. I have a 2x20 VFD on the way and I've been playing with Smartie 5.0 and like it very much so far.
But of course, I have a question/suggestion or two if you don't mind.
Currently there are 10 screens available. But only one locked to a particular application-Winamp. When Winamp starts, the relative screens cycle.
What I would like to see is the addition of 4 "Program Tracking" screens...where, in each screen, you select the .exe of choice (example: windvd.exe) and when that program starts, the relative info appears on the display. Obviously, this would be user text only....and in the "skip this screen if"
drop down box, there would be 4 additions; "Only if Program #1 is inactive" "only if Program #2 is inactive" and so on.
At least this way when a HTPC app starts like WinDVD, Creative Digital VCR, dscaler, HiPix, etc, we can put something on the display.
Additionally, I would like to see a related feature: a "lock screen" function, so if an app like Winamp starts, and its' screens are locked, only the Winamp screens would cycle thru.
Example: Typically I have the first 5 screens scrolling generic PC info. The next 5 are for Winamp. I would like Smartie to disable the generic screens and only display the Winamp screens while Winamp is playing.
I'd really like to see Smartie move into the HTPC world, it's made for it!

where at in wheaton do you live Raven? I am in Carol Stream/Bloomingdale/Hanover Park area...about a mile from stratford square mall...graduate from glenbard north in 93...

ya ya, i know this has nothing to do with LCDC...but this does....

IT IS THE BOMB...i have been chattin' with mat-d-rat and he is one hell of a smart guy...he is planning on setting up a more informed FAQ section and should be releasing his v.9 or whatever soon...i have tested it almost 100% on my LK204-25-PC and everything but the NET UP/DOWN speeds and the CPU Load work. The CPU load seems to work when it wants to for me right now and that could just be something with my system too....other then that...it freakin' rox...tested all my GPO's w/o a hitch...and even learned a couple of tricks...keep an eye out for the new version as there will be animate characters that flat out rock

I'm trying to use LCD Smartie on a PC with WinME to display DVD information, but every time I try to start the prog, I get an ESockError.

If I remember correctly, that's the error for no network connection...does that mean LCD Smartie needs a network to work or is something screwed up in my system?
