Confused about Fan Headers & Temperature Probes

Post by cools »

I recently purchased a MX212 display, with a PCB identical to that shown in the PDF manual http://www.matrixorbital.com/manuals/LK ... USB_01.pdf. I'm completely stumped as to how I go about connecting up fans & temperature probes to the thing however. I want to connect up 3 fans, and 3 probes (I've placed an order for these so should have them in a day or two). I'm not fussed about RPM monitoring, I just cannot figure out how on earth I'm supposed to connect the them up to the display

I don't think that version supports fans and temperature probes. You need to have a PCB that looks like the one in this manual http://www.matrixorbital.com/manuals/LK ... USB_02.pdf.

When you purchased the unit, did you request an MX212 or an LK202-24-USB...? :-?

Hello, yes it looks like you may not have the latest revision. When did you purchase your unit? If you would like to contact me direct to discuss....please feel free:

Thanks for the quick response. I know now it is actually a first revision MX212, I purchased it second hand - along with a pre-cut Coolermaster bezel (absolutely essential in my opinion for a factory fitted look). I'm a bit annoyed at the model number staying the same even though the features have altered this radically - I only bought it for the temperature controlled PWM :)

I've now placed an order from yourselves for a new MX222 (which I'd have done in the first place if shipping was a bit cheaper), instead of a 212 as the aluminium may match the case and I've no use for the keypad :D I'll sell my "old" MX212 to someone that has no need for the latest features.

Incidently, I have to ask - can the normal USB connector be safely cut off? I'm assuming the physical depth of the new revision is identical to the old, but I need it about 4mm less in order to place it in front of a hard disk sitting in the 5 1/4" bay (I have no spare bays ;) ). The other connectors arent a problem - they can be cut down or desoldered to make space - I just need to know if theres anything special I need to do if I remove the USB connector.
