my glc24064 does not start :-(

Post by Lok01 »

Hi LCD-friends,

I have a slight little problem with my glc24064... when I connect it to power and start it, I get the backlight... so everything is ok... but when I connect power AND serial, the PC is going out... what is the problem here? Somebody knows what this is about?

Thanks for your support

cheers

mmh, ok: Looks like you possibly need more information:
I was using a standard-PC-serial-cable.. is this ok??

I was creating the cable myself... it takes the 5v and the gnd from a PC-floppy-powerconnector... it goes directly into the LCD (I was checking the Voltage: It was 5,01V ;-)

Do I have to set any jumper?

thanks a lot, that you are helping me :-)) this display was not very cheep ;-)

Are you using a "straight through serial cable" or a null modem cable?

as far as I know, it is a serial-extension-cable, what I would call "Straight", is this right?

To be sure, you can perform a continuity test with a multimeter and pin 1 of the male side will match up with pin 1 of the female side and so on...

I am sure now: It is a straight-serial-extension-cable and no null-modem-cable....
.... you have any more idea what could be wrong? Do you have some kind of support in Germany, I can send it to?

cheers
