I need some help! I'm a gamer/modder and have decided to get some sort of lcd display for my current rig. Ive read around the forums a bit but Im a little overwhelmed by the number of units offered and what each one does. I want the biggest, brightest, most versitle display I can get for $150 (us) or less.It will need to be the usb variety, because This will be used to monitor system temps and other system info. I dont need a housing. Im pretty handy as Ive done a bit of modding and it wont go in a front bay anyway. LCDC should handle everything from the usb right? I'd like to have all info displyed come from the usb, but id like the option of temp probes/power out as well.

THANKS

Hi mrtoebiter,

Welcome to the forum.

How many temperature probes do you require?
You don't want any drive bay display packages correct?

I believe the best bet for you would be the VK204-24-USB. It is the brightest technology available and is actually a vacumn flourescent display. The pixels are lit up from a gas emitting diode which get's hot, creating the visualization of light. The incredible thing with a VFD is the viewing angle is HUGE and can be seen from any direction. The VK204-24-USB features the ability to plug four fans directly into the unit; plug up to six individual temperature probes, and has three low power general-purpose outputs. The unit may use up to a twenty-four-button matrix style keypad. Our 20 characters by 4-line unit can also allow you to have vertical or horizontal bar graphs.

A single unit run's at $129.95. However, these units do not come with a full copy of LCDC, and all cables must be purchased seperately.

We provide all our manuals on line at our Tech Support site at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/manuals/

Here is a direct link to the VK204-24-USB:

Yeah, as nick said, the VFD is pretty much the king right now. If you were thinking LCD a lot of people go with the white/blue (WB) display, but I am a personal fan of the new inverse yellow(-IY) or inverse reds(-R) that we have. They don't have the same viewing angle as a VFD but they are still pretty sweet.

But after all that most people still like the white blue display,

cables needed link please....

Well first you have to choose wether you want to connect the usb connection internally to the motherboard or to an outboard insert.

External USB Cable: http://www.matrixorbital.com/product_in ... munication

Internal USB Cable:

Temperature Probes (if you want to keep track of a devices temperature)

Power Cable:

For the power cable, you can either purchase one, or just simply use an unmodifyed floppy power cable. It's up to you.
