Hello I have 3 gx typhoons. One on workstation, one on htpc in living room.1 htpc bedroom
Both have 2 screens, one showing temperature via adda64, and 2nd win amp screen with spectrum and song title
But no matter what I try .when win amp is launched the screen will start and crash gx and will not return until reboot! Fine on system monitor screen but always locks on win amp screen.
The strange this is though on my bedroom htpc which is amd platform it does not happen with same screen
My main rig is asus p68, Intel 2700 .Samsung 840pro ssd (win amp screen crashes
Htpc (main) h67 Intel i5 2500t Samsung 830 ssd (win amp screen crashes
Htpc (bedroom) amd 240E Samsung 830 ssd (win amp screen ok
Any help will be appreciated
all computers are using windows ultimate x64

Hi darkvader71,

I understand you are having trouble with your Displays freezing when winamp starts up.

If I could get what version of LCDStudio you are running, version of WinAmp and which OS you are running on it could help me with troubleshooting the problem.

Also if possible could you send me the playlist file you are running so I could then try to fully replicate the issue you are having.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to ask.
Thank you
Martino

Hello I am using win amp version 5.58 (pro) (windows 7 x64 report incompatibility with earlier win amp)
LCD studio 2.1.810 (April 2011 pack)
Windows 7 x64
I have been using the same design on all computers just changing name to match the comparers for about 4 years
But for some reason it is ok on amd platform but not my 2 intel.maybe just coincidence.
Thanks for taking time to help me as it is driving me crazy!
I have attached my screens and playlist
Kind regards

Hey darkvader71,

Thank you for sending your screens and playlist file.

I currently have your playlist running on my GX and haven't been able to replicate the issue you are having. Although I am using WinAmp version 5.65, Windows 7 x64 and Intel i5-3570

Could you maybe upgrade your WinAmp to 5.65 see if that helps. In the mean time I will continue to try an replicate the freezing issue of the GX screen.

Martino

Tried it, crashed straight away .my main rig has an Intel p68 chipset (asus z68 deluxe) 16 GB memory
And my htpc has h67 Giada MI-H67-01 LGA 1155 Intel H67 8 GB memory
Stable on temp screen with aida64 & fraps plug-in. but soon as winamp start it will freeze within 15 mins
Getting me quiet depressed now.
Pc reports not error in event log but communication between gx and pc breaks

Hey darkvader71,

I must apologize but unfortunately we do not have a solution as of right now for this exact issue.

I have your playlist and screens running and will continue to work on this issue for you. As soon as I get a solution for you I will post it here for you.

Again my apologies.
If you have any other concerns or questions please feel free to ask.
Thank you

darkvader71,

.NET Framework 4.0 shouldn't be an issue. The issue of the GX freezing has been happening since before 4.0 was released.
I have somewhat replicated the freezing issue you are having, although it was within the first screen not the winamp screen that you have sent me. With that I restarted LCDStudio and it worked again.
For now I will continue to work on this. When I reach a solution I will be sure to let you know.

If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to ask.
Regards
Martino

Hi darkvader71,

When are you seeing this error?

Is this the error for LcdStudio?

Thank you
Martino

In event viewer. The time correlates to when LCD freezes. Every other programme on htpc works as it should, so by process of elimination, I am 99% sure it related o lcd/matrix orbital

i am also having the same problem on windows server 2012 r2 x64. It works fine but after 1-2 hours it just freezes. Its very annoying because I bought it so I could look at the server status and load without hooking up a monitor. There is definitely a bug with the LCDStudio and x64 systems it looks like. I was planning on ordering 6 more of the typhoons for my other servers but given this I am going to wait to see if this gets fixed first.

Is there any update on this issue to get it fixed? Are there any other alternatives to LCD Studio?

Hi Maximus,

Unfortunately there is no update as of yet for this issue.

There also isn't any known alternative program that we have found yet either.

If you do come across any please share!
Thank you
Martino
