I have a few questions concerning the MX4 series LCDs.
1: How temperature probe "ports" does it have?
2: How many 3 pin fan ports does it have?
3: If it does not use 3 pin ports, will I have to buy a PWM fan to use with it?
4: Does it have any other GPO ports that are not for fans?
5: How much current, watts, and volts are available through each fan/GPO port simultaneously?
6: Would it be better to attach the unit to the motherboard internally though a motherboard header of externally through an external motherboard port?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MX4 General Questions
Hi Sun,
Thank you for posting on the forum.
Here are the answers to your questions.
1: The unit has 6 temperature probe inputs, and they need to be dallas one wire protocol.
2: There are 4 advanced gpos, so there are 4 3 pin fan headers.
3: The advanced gpos/fan headers have PWM available.
4: There are 3 additional gpos for low powered devices such as LEDs.
5: Each advanced GPO sources 12V 1000mA, so 12watts.
6: It is better to attached the unit with an external usb cable because it has better noise suppression.
For more detailed information you can also refer to the manual at http://www.matrixorbital.ca/manuals/LK_ ... SB_100.pdf
If you have anymore questions or concerns, please feel free to post them.

[quote="Tom"]5: Each advanced GPO sources 5V 1000mA, so 5watts.

In the manual you supplied me with, it says that the highest current allowed is 1000mA, and with 5v, yes, that is 5 watts. However, if these ports were switched to 12v with the High Power select (by use of the jumper), will this mean the unit is capable of feeding 12 watts, or still the 5 watt maximum?

No, any fan will work, the benifit of rpm support is to know how fast your fans are going...Sun wrote:One more question:
Does the unit require fans to have RPM support?
If not, is there any benefit from having RPM support?
Thanks for all you excellent help thusfar.
