Resistance and voltage are two seperate and neccessary things. By putting on a current limiting resistor on GPOs 1-3 we make it so that if somebody shorted out the two pins there would only be 5V/240 ohm = 20 mA of current which wouldn't fry the unit. If somebody was drawing 10mA of current, the vol...

Just thought I should jump in here. GPOs 1-3 (on this particular hardware version) have 240 ohm resistors in place already. GPOs 4-6 have no resistors, so you WILL need to add your own. You will first need to figure out the resistance that you need. Typically LEDs need about 20mA of current to opera...

Just to put my 0.02CAD in, the only change to the memory file was that the cursor startup value was invalid in the original file. When the LCD controller gets an invalid curser value, it tends to do really wierd things. Glad to see those instructions worked for you too.

This is strange. I've tested out over twenty fans of many different manufacturers, sizes and speeds, and all of them were only slightly noiser with PWM mode on the fans. We'll have to pick up the fans and test them out for ourselves. The one thing I can suggest in the meantime is try disabling the R...

Serial number should be FFFF unless you've programmed it. uProject doesn't detect the display type properly with these ones. The one I'm worried about is the revison of 0xFF, which indicates that your memory is not initalized. Does your display have a startup screen still?

The memory file was screwed up for a bit, and has since been fixed. Apparently your unit was programmed with the messed up version. Good thing it's a very easy fix. First you will need: http://www.lcdforums.com/download/MemUploader.zip Unzip it into a directory and follow these steps 1) Load up uPro...

I'm assuming that you have a temperature diode (only 2 pins). Unfortunately they require hardware to bias them properly and do analog to digital conversions. The MX series does not have the hardware to use them. If you want a list of hardware that is available for the 1-Wire bus see http://www.maxim...

The maximum distance of the wire is a little bit of a tricky question. It depends on the 1-wire driver. For those who want the really technical end of things, the best references are at http://www.maxim-ic.com/an_prodline2.cfm/prodline/21 . Specifically you should probably look at one that isn't lis...
