While the software might only provide access to 35 levels, rest assured that the display is capable of 256 levels of contrast. In fact, this is also just a firmware limitation. The hardware could even provide up to 65,536 levels of contrast. I hear you ask, why don't we pass that "feature"...

One of the fixes included in the upcoming 2.0 firmware is a new power management section. By default it will power down the display after the USB bus indicates that the host is sleeping. We might include an option to ignore this, that is up in the air at the moment.

I'm currently in the process of re-writing the entire firmware from the ground up. We're working on things like: - Enabling the GX expansion ports for addons - Being able to configure/disable the IR ports - Unified/simplified protocol to the display - Stability fixes The first cut of firmware should...

Ok..... Second Issue ; If you unplug the display from the usb , plug it back in , and then reboot the computer , it will reset the color of the display to the light blue used in the initial config of the 3 test screens (drivercoretray.exe) ......(even if all 3 test screens are disabled) . If you ac...

You've definitely got a strange one here. I'm wondering if you might want to employ a better 1-wire bridge. Our displays were meant to connect to simple 1-wire networks, and as such don't employ the advanced concepts such as slew rate limiting and strong/weak pulls. You might want to research one of...

Sorry for the delay in the reply. We're just getting back to full technical support strength after the hollidays. The large digits have always been 4x3, and the medium digitas have always been 2x1. I am unsure where you have seen this display with a "Steering Satellite" message. If you can...

Hi Dodge55. Given I designed this display, this question is right up my alley 8). As of R2.0 we use the ST232EBTR on that display (if you're using an older display, let me know). It's data sheet is at: http://www.st.com/stonline/products/literature/ds/6900/st202eb.pdf From the datasheet on the 232 s...

Sorry about the delay getting back to you. We're still winding up our tech support after the hollidays. In fact I believe that I just got your voicemail. So if I'm understanding you correctly, you have the drivers installed, and it shows up in device manager. If this is the case, windows *should* ha...

Nope. While the displays are "Intelligent Displays", they only do what they are told, and are not able to run any programs/scripts/or code of any time. You need a host controller tellin them what to do.

Two things jump to mind, contrast and backlight. It might juts be that either of those are set to a strange value. Try setting the backlight to the brightest value, and the contrast to about the middle. I believe that you can do that through LCDC or you can use uProject that is on the Matrix Orbital...

Ok, there are two ways to proceed from here: 1) A more complex protocol, for example: A pulse over 100ms is considered a "reset" pulse A pulse over 50ms is considered an "end" A pulse under 50ms is considered a count. You send a reset, followed by the number of pulses under 50ms ...

Send us pictures of your stuff, we'll be more than happy to post them here. We always love to see what people are actually doing with our displays. I'd love to make some suggestions, but I'm having a difficult time understanding your exact intensions. You seem to be counting pulses to determine how ...

USB only can provide +5V, and the specification for that display is +9V to +15V input. Unfortunately there is no way to power that particular display off the USB port unless you want to build a DC/DC converter to boost the +5 upto something within the specified range.

Sorry for the delayed response. We don't have any perl examples to pull out for this one. But some quick googling around found a few pages like: http://www.rocketaware.com/perl/perlfaq8/How_do_I_read_and_write_the_seri.htm One thing that you could try is to setup non-blocking calls. Then at least if...
