I tried the manual override and it still doesn't work . I get some mess of garbage on the lcd when i turn it on now as if the graphic became corrupt. You can still see some of the four arrows though. I'll send you an email right now.

What exactly do you mean by that? I only have 1 serial port. I tried all that other stuff, but it didn't work (it was fun though ).

Also (just to make sure this wouldn't cause a problem), I have no ground hooked up to the serial cable (although I've tried and have had the same problems) and I have both the grounds on the power connectors plugged in.

Has the LCD screen been tested with Windows XP Pro? Right now I'm using a 6ft serial cable from Radio Shack and an external power supply that I made. The power works just fine. It can communicate to the screen but it seems that everything that involves the EEPROM just doesn't work.
