Thanks for the help rob, I had the LCD connected and placed ontop of a cardboard box.. seeing how it worked before i attempted to cut up my LL 68. I don't think it could of shorted. Well I've emailed for help so i'll just have to wait and see.

Hi rob, well i bought the cable from mo! The other cable I tried didn't work but that is explained by what you just said! I have had the jumpers set like that from the start and have tried changing them but to no avail :( I think i might hav to send it back to mo... not really my idea of fun ...

Hi cheese I have tried a different PC and I still get the same thing??? I'll see if i can get a different serial cable.. Do you know if it is possible to do a manual override on a 2041?

Well my lcd display arived in the post last week, I've finnaly had time to sit down and play with it and it's not working! I've done the 5 volt cable mod. The backlight comes on when the system powers up the first block flashes, but when i try to send any data to the display i get aload of jiberish ...
