thanks it works now. that will teach me to read manuals more carefully

I have an lk-202-usb and am trying with little success to use it over a rs232 connection. the usb connection works perfectly. I have connected the display to both a pic and to my pc through hyperterminal. I am using 8bits, no parity, 19200 baud and 1 stop bit.
Characters are coming though ...
