Thing is that there isnt any noticeable damage, the display looks absolutely perfect from outside, the smoke was coming from under the back of the actual LCD screen itself. Im not sure what has gone wrong, Can't afford a new one either, bleh.

I was re-developing a Linux console application controlled by Telnet that I'd done, where commands like .display uptime put the uptime on the screen last night.

Today just using my PC I notice smoke coming from my server, a nice curling stream of smoke from the back of my LCD

Its easy to write a program that is executed like this:
Which just grabs the uname -a string and puts it on the LCD. could be useful, might not be.

That would probably be ideal, but using the small fonts on the GLK12232 then I have 32 chars a line, and a standard keyboard would be used anyway for the software.

I was looking at having the LCD as another terminal, you can type commands to it, and execute the commands and then it will output the results

Problem is, the display I have is too small, I need a 40x4 or something like that to make it manageable.

I can turn the backlight on and off thats it though the contrast doesnt work, the test doesnt show...nothing....any help, I had no reply from your "customer service" personnel after contacting them by email..

Hnery, my backlight wont even turn on and off any more and I cant adjust the contrast from the PC.

I tried the manual override, it didnt help!

Is there any way we can arrange an RMA?

Mine wont do anything at all It has a backlight, thats it at the moment! Henry this is annoying! I have the first portion of LCDConsole Programmed (the linux console on a display)

It now can display text in small filled but no other fonts, they just look distorted...like not characters...how can I sort this?

still just produces a small dot (1 pix x 1 pix) in the top corner...is there a way to hardware reset it?
