Hi there. I have the same problem actually, my leds fans are flickering. Through the BootEdit.exe if i change it to 38.2hz the flickering is gone. I press the write to unit, reboot and nada.. all is lost.

I didnt really understand the way through the lcdc test step. Should the # be changed with ...

This is very do-able!!! A little hack and slash of the fans and it should work fine. With the fans connected in parallell, this will provide 12 Volts to each individual fan! :D It appears that the LED's have built in resistance along the trace, therefore current limiting shouldn't be an issue. Let ...

So there is no way around the 2nd other than me not to read the RPM or to power the LEDs from a different source?

Multiple LEDs to one GPO,multiple fans to one GPO

I believe I can run two fans from one GPO, as long as I wire them in parallel?

Can I do likewise with the LEDs to four fans? ie: Could I wire (in parallel) the LEDs from four fans into one of the GPO headers? I assume the LEDs of all four fans would be just as bright as if just one was connected ...

Have you tried adjusting to a higher frequency...this should help the strobbing effect. If you didn't read the RPM at all, then you won't have any strobbing!! :D

I've suffered from two different problems.

1) The strobing... I could set the PWM frequency which would cure it, but the bootup ...

That works a treat! Shoudl tide me over until Matrix Orbital fix their software...

Now I've just got this damn flicker caused from the FAN RPM freature... Once again it makes the LED Fans unusable (See my thread about this)

Lcdc Fan Report Makes My Led Fans Flicker Every 3 Seconds...

EDIT: It is the REPORT FAN RPM feature that causes this!

I have some LED fans attached to my Matrix Orbital MX4. The fans are running at about 50% speed - this obviously means the LEDs on them are not at full brightness as well.

Without LCDC running the brightness and speed of the fans is ...

Well you can do it in LCDC but not as a set function. Up can send commands direct to your screen though, go into the "Configure/Test" section then select "Test Display", you can now (via the "Text" section) send anything to your screen. The command to "Remember" the PWM base frequency (from the ...

AS LCDC is working, have you tried to set the boot screen from LCDC? Just create a screen as normal (untick it so it does not display) then use the "Save as power on" button at the bottom right of the screen builder...

I mentioned this in my original post:-
I tried also setting the default boot ...

I sent it to you in the first email...sent it again...I just want you to reload the mem file to unit default settings and we'll go from there!! :D

After uploading the MEM file twice I then rebooted.

The welcome message had been resset to the default one.

When in windows I closed LCDC and run ...

I have (now) emailed you... You have sent me a .MEM file and I am now waiting for the uploader program...

Not quite sure how this is going to help, but I'll gladly give it a go...

And you can still communicate with the unit?? Turn the backlight off/on, contrast up/down?? :-?

Yes... I run BootEdit (from the power_on directory on the cd) and set the Com and speed and "connect"...

As I change the display I can see it changing on the Unit.

If I change the GPO frequency I can ...

Re: Fan control

I'm considering purchasing a MX232 and was wondering about fan control...

If I understand correctly you can use LCDC to set the fans to come on at a preset RPM at a preset temperature. Can you configure it to ramp fan speed as the temperature increases? Something like this:

30 degrees - 50% rpm ...

Can't set PMW frequency so LED fans are flickering/strobing

I'm having problems setting the PMW fequency on my MX4. The default frequency makes my LED fans flicker quite badly.

If I run BootEdit from the CD, I can set the frequency (interactively) to a higher rate and the flicker goes. However, I cannot seem to write this setting to the unit such that at a ...
