My guess is that that command affects the brightness of the LCD - probably backlighting brightness - since the VFD brighness is actually a different command (254 89 [brighness] ) and not (254 153 [brightness]). I suspect that the 254 89 command produces a change in signal on a different logic path/w...

VK-204-24-USB ... Any way to SAVE default brightness setting

Looking through the version 1 manual for the vk204-24-usb, it seems a lot of it is lcd related. There are 3 ways to set the brightness. The one I know works (I've tested, is 254 89 [brightness] described in 7.1.2 on page 26), though the values of brightness are backwards - 00 is the brightest, while...

Do the VK204-24-usb's also have the GPO issue?

If the vk202-24-usb's have some design issue with the GPO's, do the vk204-24-usb's also have this GPO issue possibly? I have not had a chance to try the outputs yet, but want to check to see if I should test them now to see if the the same issue affects the 4 row VFD as the 2 row VFD. Is there any w...

Commands to the VFK204-24-USB, manual v1.0 and display testr

Now that I've had a few more hours to play with the display, I have a few questions. We are aware that the manual for the VK204-24-USB version 1.0 is not entirely accurate as it indicates the need to make the power jumper connections and disconnections to use the standard expternal floppy power cabl...

Thats cool.

So long as I can get the startup-splash screen programmed, I'll be happy. The rest will be tied in via Girder anyway.

VK204-24-USB support in LCD Tester?

Can you add the VK204-24-USB to the database of devices in LCD Tester?

With the VK204-25, I don't get all the features the manual v1 indicates I should have (like setting the bootup splash text). With the LK202-25-USB, I only get to define 2 lines.

Will the tester software support the VK-204-24-USB?

I just downloaded and used the latest LCD Tester software and find that the database does not contain the configuration information for the VFD model VK-204-24-USB. As a result, I don't get to use all the features. I have to select a model that is close and tell the software to ignore the fact that ...

Thanks Henry, Thats what I expected. Hmm... well I'll have to write another email to customer service and see what they say about this... do I need to buy a new blue filter or did they just forget to apply a blue filter on the replacement VFD when they sent me the new one out. Thanks for your help.

Miles, I'm sure the new unit will work just fine. I had sent an email from my home account over the weekend and have not gotten home to check it yet - but since the question may be of some interest, I think I'll ask it here (feel free to delete this post if you feel its necessary): The original unit...

Just to let you guys know, as this was the case with the first VK204-24-USB I received, which I asked about via email: The VK204-24-USB is to be powered by a standard, unmodified floppy cable the way it leaves the factory as the jumpers have already been configured for that mode of operation. This i...

Wait... are we talking VFD or LCD or both with the burn-in issue here? The original question refered to VFD useage, a followup reply referenced the LCD system. Which is it? I've got a VFD and would like to know, for example, if I'm displaying a movie title in the VFD while the film is playing - and ...

Ok, I took it out of the baggie, looked at it and compared whats in the pictures of the manual (fig 5, pdf document pg 11). Now I know what you mean by jumper. The solder area below the sideways U (fig 5 right image) is split open on my VK-204-24-USB. The solder area below the letters PS is one soli...

VK204-24-USB - How to power?

I just recieved my VK204-24-USB and after reading the attached flyer in the box (DO NOT USE AN UNMODIFIED FLOPPY POWER CABLE, it says) and the online PDF docs for the VK-204-24-USB, I am a bit confused as to how I should power my unit. It will connect to the motherboard using an internal USB cable f...

Do the mounting points between the USB and old Serial version remain the same? I've already got my case, set up specifically to mount the Serial version - so I want to be sure there are no issues with mounting this USB version - in terms of dimensions, stand-offs,etc (I really need to look into the ...

Duh, Thomas! Geez, sometimes I'm amazed at how brain-dead I can be. I remember reading that... Sorry for the stupid question there Henry. :) I got all wound up in the discussion in the Atech thread about the wide voltage being best for the old serial version .... this is much better. I'll shut up no...
