What is the difference between the commandsets of the MO alpha-numeric LCD's and the HVWtech Econo LCD parrallel backpack? Like what extra functions does the MO LCD's contain etc...

Hello...

HVW Tech uses the same command set on their backpack. So any software written specifically for our display will work on their controller. The only thing is they do not have the FULL range of commands that we have on some of our displays. So certain functions will not work, like saving contrast to memory. But the basics will work fine.

So programs like LCDproc support the EconoLCD perfectly fine then I am guessing. So the functions missing are just some specialty functions? or are you able to be more detailed because i'm thinking about getting a lcd with the MO command set.

HVW Tech LCD controller will do almost everything ours will. And just like you said, it will be missing some of the more special functions, but those are non critical but more setup.
